5. The patch will be come available a few minutes before server up here. http://www.eve-online.com/patches/patches.asp Download it and patch manualy to help save serverload.
6. In the past it has happend that some technical issues or severe bugs have appeared after a patch ( sheit hppens right ? ). If this be the case this time please post all intel you have that might help sorting out the problem in this forum.http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=channel&channelID=3522 Its the very underused game development forums. Issues, with all the intel you have posted on this forum will greatly help our Devs solve pressing issues asap.
7. Most important point Imo atleast so Ill say it again.. Any pain felt by us the players will be doubly felt by the Devs. This game is their creation and lives work. So don't go berserk on the Devs if something isn't working out for you after patch. Stay calm and give intel that can be used to solve the issue. I assure you the Devs will be working fulltime on any issue that might surface.
There. I've said my part. Good luck with the deployment to the Devs. See you all on the flip side.
Add ons The Devs will almost without a doubt post a feedback sticky on the new patch, post any issues there to spare the rest of the forums.
bugreports http://bugs.eve-online.com/newbugreport.asp make a good bugreport 1.01 http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=137971

Edited by: Mned Graydroggen on 19/08/2006 15:58:35 As you propably have gathered we have a new patch comming up next tuesday. If not hereis the intel. http://myeve.eve-online.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=1219&tid=1
Content wise this patch is not as impressive as others have been in that respect, but there are alot of fixes comming and most importantly the Dragoncode. http://myeve.eve-online.com/updates/patchnotes.asp
My educated guess ( been here since beta without leave ) is that this will be a bumpy ride. The architecture on which Tranquility is build will be changed. And although serious testing has been done/is beeing done http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=channel&channelID=3522. The few testers there will be in no way able to mimic all the data transactions we as a 25k+ ingame community can generate. So be patient. EVE is CCP's baby and I can assure you that any pain felt by us the user on patchday will be doubly felt by the DEV team deploying the patch.
This beeing said, some do's and don'ts on patchday.
1. Patchdeployment, might take a bitt longer than expected. (Ask mr Murphy as to why) So dont clog up the forums with 'the server isnt up yet ' threads. All who are waiting will be aware of that fact regardless of you posting.
2. Patchday is Lagday. Don't expect the game to run smoothly. Many a 56k-er will be autopatching, and all who have patched and are logged on will probably be clicking all over the user interface and market tabs looking for all the new stuff and such. Lag will be immense. Allow a few hours till after server up for the game to run smoothly again.
3 Server reboots. More often than not. We 100k users are more capable to find the remaining bugs/errors than the few hundred brave souls who did the bughunting. On a same note the few hundred testers will not have been able to mimmic us 100 k users serverload wise. Some server reboots might occure to fix pressing issues bugs asap. Expect some additional dt's. So dont start a mission with a 20 minute timer on patchday.
4 Changes The changes are not to dramatic this time around, but be aware that setups that worked prepatch might act different now. So dont jump into the frey with your priceless ship unless you are prepared to take the risk of loss.
What you can do to make patchday enjoyable for yourself.
1 Most important, set a long skill training. One that will finish a few days after the patch day. Probably wont be needed, but still, having a skill finish during a reboot suxs.
2 Park yourself away for the core solar systems if you want to fly around on patchdays. lag will be worst around Oursulaert/Jita and the likes.
3. Dont plan major corp opps on patchday. Take your time to just hangaround some and look at the new toys or something. ( this doesnt count for 0.0 as there usualy things go alot smoother, but you prob wont be a first timer if you live there anyway )
4. If you do feel the need to complain, please check if your issue has already been posted. It probably has, so use that thread to add your instant of the problem so the DEVs get a better overvieuw of the issues and the forums dont get floaded with double threads.
